It was a great day, but a tough one

Howdy Campers! Back from the South on Friday and off to the hub on Saturday. 400 people were kind enough to support my Uncle Doug and his fight with Cancer. The benefit went off without a hitch and I think we brought in close to 20K. It was nice to see a lot of folks who we don't get to see very often. Family, friends and ghosts from the past. I had to make a tough speech to thank everyone and until that point I was on my best behavior. Had I not, I'm sure the speech would have been a disaster as I'm known to get a little emotional from time to time. Bit of an understatement there, speaking of me getting weepy I went with my Mom and my Aunt to visit a very dear family friend who is battling cancer as well. I had sent her a Christmas card that she liked with some memories of days gone by. She was like a second mother to me growing up and she treated me like gold. As you can tell I have an easier time writing out my feelings sometimes than speaking them. So as Saturday night was wrapping up and Tim was belting out "If tomorrow never comes" I was left in a chair to think about times to come...

Sometimes late at night I lie awake and watch her sleeping
She's lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt the way
I feelAbout her in my heart

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she's my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

'Cause I've lost loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where there's no second chance to tell her how I feel

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she's my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

So tell that someone that you love
Just what you're thinking ofIf tomorrow never comes

So, with tears running down my face I had three of my best friends to thank for bringing a smile back to my face as we set to break the World record for most people stuffed in a ford escort wagon taxi. With eight aboard we were off to get some donairs. Good idea for some, not so much for some others. Jen had a rough birthday. Greek food, beer, wine, tequilla, and donairs aren't always a good mix.

As you can now see it was a great day but a tough one.
