Robbie Mac Circa 1992

Once upon a time I was a creature of the night. I avoided my early twenties by focusing on the night time instead of the day time. I worked a couple of nights a week and lived the life of riley. I drove an old truck lived in a $250 apartment and had the World by the tail. Then it was time to grow up. Fast forward a decade and a couple of kids later and here we are. Every now and again an opportunity comes along to turn back time and tonight was one of those. I played my first club gig in years and had a blast. Not quite an A list crowd but a crowd never the less. Loud tunes at my control and people moving to my beat. Will I be doing this when I'm 70? Who knows senior sock hops in Florida playing the rock and roll. On a similar note, the boy and I had a talk about a song he heard about "smoke on the water" sometimes taste can be taught. Rock on!

How fast is too fast?

Cue the theme from the lone ranger and may the rental car abuse begin. Coming off the heels of an excellent Daytona 500 party it's time to fly yet again. This week it's Manchester,NH and then off to Portland, ME. Geographically I think this is as close as I'll likely ever get to home but yet be away. To think that Portland means weekend roadtrips from Halifax. As Costanza would say "Worlds are colliding", anyway not a bad week of shows but now it's time to get home. Travel has been relatively smooth so far although today was the day I was sure I would miss my flight. 7:15 from Logan on a Thursday night. Time check 5:10 leaving Portland only 90 miles, some city driving, fill the car, take the car back, catch the shuttle and grab a bite and mustn't forget scheduled arrival two hours before departure. Zoom zoom zoom and I'm in the food court at 6:40 CRIPES that was fast, I'm sure the good folks at Thrifty would be pleased to know that their Sebring is capable of 100 MPH. Next stop Halifax. Flew home with a guy coming home from the 500 great conversation and a little envy ;>

Robbie Mac's Thought for the Week...
Take a breath and remember sometimes it's not the destination but the journey that's more important.

It's finally here

Well no more sleeps. It's the weekend of the 500. Hillbilly heaven, funny how years ago you wouldn't hear boo about the race and now? Well sir, it's everywhere. This isn't the NASCAR of my youth. Sometimes that's cool sometimes not so much I'm more of an old time fan where by disagreements were settled in the pits without lawyers! Anyway, grab a cold one and enjoy the action.

Kid Rock, Eminem & Robbie Mac?

Well Boy Wonder reporting live from Beantown, my current second home. The tour's been still rolling along and while we're still not at 100% we're still kicking ass. Last week was tough between here and Detroit. Michigan is flat and a little scary if you steer off track so I don't think it'll be a gotta get to spot. Shot outta there Friday night for a late visit in T.O I guess staying somewhere for 7.5 hours counts as a visit. Back to the airport and home we go. Special thanks to Air Canada for screwing up my day and countless others as well with their stellar service. GRRRR.... Whoops sorry I'm watching the Grammy's and did Melissa Etheridge ever just rock out on the joplin tribute. I got goosebumps and of course me being me a bit weepy. She's just getting over Cancer so that's a little close to home these days. Okay and we're back. So, I was home for all of 25 hours and that just sucks. On a brighter note the whole fam-damily met me at the airport and kids were super duper to see as was the lady who keeps it all rolling when I'm not around. Now back to Boston, still watching the show Tim Mcgraw does "Live like you were dying" these lyrics remind of those who make and made me what I am today....

He said I was in my early forties with a lot of life before me when a moment came that stopped me on a dime and I spent most of the next days looking at the x-rays Talking bout the options and talking bout sweet time I asked him when it sank in that this might really be the real end how's it hit you when you get that kinda news man what'd you do and he said I went sky diving I went Rocky Mountain climbing I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying and he said someday I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying. He said I was finally the husband that most the time I wasn't and I became a friend a friend would like to have and all the sudden going fishin wasn't such an imposition and I went three times that year I lost my dad well I finally read the good book and I took a good long hard look at what I'd do if I could do it all again and then I went sky diving I went Rocky Mountain climbing I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying and he said someday I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying. Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about what'd you do with it what did you do with it what did I do with it what would I do with it? Sky diving I went Rocky Mountain climbing I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu and then I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter and I watched an eagle as it was flying and he said someday I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying. To live like you were dying.

Those who read this from time to time will no doubt know that I love music and that's why I leave lyrics from songs I love. I spend lots of time rolling down the road, flying the skies singing and living like I was dying. All the while those who I love are home keeping the home fires burning. As it's now Valentine's Day and I'm here in Beantown thanks go to those who I so often selfishly have to leave behind I love you all good night...

It's a knockout !!!

Every once in a while things go right and things go boom. Well after months of prep looks like the fuse is lit. For the next eight weeks or so we're taking on our competitor head to head in sell-offs. First meeting TKO we took 100% of the business when we were expecting much less. Hard work does pay off from time to time. Funny how a drink tastes better when you've worked for it. Two states down and ten more to go. Bring it on baby!
