In the land of the Mouse

Had to leave Easter Sunday to get to Orlando. Not a big fan of missing big family dinners. Anyway only a few more weeks of this stuff left. I am a little burnt out. Looking forward to catching some rays if I get a chance. I've only been in Orlando a couple of times & I'm pretty sure everyone is from somewhere else. They walk down I-drive with their eyes glazed over. They shop not even looking at prices. Happy to be on vacation. Me? I'm here to work but I did get a few minutes poolside "working"with my blackberry. Seriously though they are great tools. I was able to bang out 40 emails lickety split all the while baking in the sun. Add a cold beer and I'd be putting in some hours. Gotta get home though stag party on the way.

So this is Baltimore

Zoom zoom zoom off we go to Maryland. Do I give thanks here to Mapquest? If not, I should it makes my life so much easier all you need is a couple of zip codes and away you go. I've always wanted to go to Baltimore, much like Cleveland there's a great ball field here and that's reason enough but you know it's nice here. It's a great harbour city much like Halifax and we're staying right on the water. Anyway great spot with a great downtown. I tried a tappas dinner tonight for the first time. I think we had 14 dishes but they're little. Jen'll be pissed as I was eating crazy stuff I normally wouldn't try. When in Rome....BTW don't show up late for a flight here they really like the security lines here.

Robbie Mac at the Rock Hall Posted by Hello

Philly Philly Baltimore

Last week Allentown this week brings Philly. Out of the shithole and into the city. I've been here a few times now and this was the first time I've gone near downtown. Funny more time I spend in these cities I'm getting a little braver and trying to do more and more local stuff. When in Philly? Gotta get a cheesesteak and for God's sake you better now how to order it right! A while ago I found a great website www.hollyeats.com and it's been a good guide not so much for a the four star places as much as the four stain places. Anyway tonight I'm watching the Rock Hall Induction ceremonies and my lads from U2 getting put in by the Boss. Amazing, I of course am a fan of a good speech and this ceremony was full othem. Hard to imagine that I've been listening to them for 20 years. Gotta catch a show or two this tour. Time to pack for Baltimore and the Easter Bunny. Ciao...

Living here in Allentown

So Billy Joel wrote a song about this place. Everyone knows it. The lady at the Air Canada counter knew it. I planned on whistling it thru town. No sir! I'm not sure what this place has more of pawn shops or cheque cashing joints. Can you say shit hole? I can and it is. Added points to Air Canada for bringing me in on a plane that I'm sure I saw at Toys R Us. The joys of it all. I knew something was up when I could book a suite for $109. My boss just called to check in on me and I told him I wouldn't go out after dark. My best description of this place from one Cape Bretoner to another was that it's like an urban Glace Bay. Picture that would you please?

As a parting note here's to the lads from U2 on getting into the Rock Hall good to know someone can still write songs that are real and true. Ciao

10 Days, 16 shows, 7 States, and 1 Conjugal Visit

Sorry it’s been a bit busy lately. I left home on March 1st and I’m heading home tonight, these shows are going to be the end of me I swear. Now seven weeks into these shows I guess I’ve got my rhythm down. Some rooms are enjoyable and some well…not so much. I went toe to toe with the “Patel Cartel” in Chicago. Anyway I’m not somewhere over Pennsylvania home bound. Last weekend was great with a visit from a special someone on the company dime in Chicago. I can’t say enough about the W Hotel we stayed at. If you need to score some brownie points there’s your place. The more time I spend there the more I like it. If I lived there though I’d be 300 lbs. Maybe not if I walked as much as we did. We spent Saturday walking the magnificent mile shopping and gawking. The architecture in Chicago is better than the food, well at least close. A quiet weekend was rerouted when we had to go to Cleveland on Sunday for a show on Monday. What’s in Cleveland that I would like? The rock and roll hall of fame and museum has been on my gotta see list as long as it’s been around. I was told I was the happiest looking I’d been in quite some time. The place is way too cool. I was disappointed that some of my faves were not overly present (U2,AC/DC, and Marley) of course there was just a year long U2 exhibit there. Anyway wicked spot, plans for supper were dashed while out for a walk near the Gund Arena when out of the alley as they often comes a scalper. I asked what was up and he explained that Shaq was in town, I didn’t have much money on me. But after the first quarter tickets sell for a fraction of face value. First time I’ve expensed beer and dogs for supper. This weekend I’ll happily settle for hot dogs with the little people watching the snow fall. Spring is coming soon right?
